As of 3-18-07 The bite is on!! The big females are starting to move up into the shallows getting ready to spawn, some areas have already spawned out. The bass are eating almost anything that moves including, frogs and flukes around the flooded johnson grass and other new growth that took place due to the low water we have had the last 2 years

We were under a High all week. 30.17 - 30.09
Winds. Out of the NE and move around to the NW by the end of the week.

We camp out for a week on Pine in area 4 in Johnson creek, fish for Bass , Crappie, there were campers next to us fishing for yellow bass.
Bass - Fair
Crappie - Fair
Yellow Bass - Good.

Bass fish was best in the upper part of the lake and in the back of the creeks that had grass near the creek channels.
Crappie was fair in the main lake and up river, main lake we found crappie in 17 to 20 feet of water, up river they were in the river channel in 18 feet of water.
Yellow Bass - main lake in 25 to 30 feet of water.
Bass - top water has work early, try using a Bone Yellow Magic, White Buzz Bait, as the top water bite go away try 1/2oz Chrome/Blue Back Rat-L-Trap, Luck-E Strike Bass Magic Swim Baits in Natural Perch and Bandit 300 Series Crankbaits in Chrome/Blue Back.
Crappie - 1/8 oz by BNB Crappie Jigs.
Yellow Bass - 1/2oz. Slab Spoon

We put in at Hurricane Creek Boat Ramp
Crappie - Good

Today we fish with Dearil Jackson with the ARK-LA-TEX Sportsman Outdoor Show, me meet up at Hurricane Boat Ramp at 9:30 am and made our way out to the main lake area by 10:00am. We fish the main area, fish the Flats and creek channel, we fish in 25 to 35 feet of water, we fish this area with about 100 to 150 other boats. Most of the boats were drift fishing with live bate, drop rig with 2 to 3 hook. We are die hard jigs fishermen, we rig our rods up with 2 jigs each, with BNB Crappie Jigs, bottom jig CLDT-PS003) 1/8oz White/Orange/White/Midge and about 24" up with a CLDT-PS001) 1/8oz Salmon/Blue/Midge we also used Smelly Jelly Crawfish on them we had a verry good day.

Today we fish with Bill McBroom and Dearil Jackson with the ARK-LA-TEX Sportsman Outdoor Show, me meet up at Hurricane Boat Ramp at 9:00am and made our way out to the main lake area. We fish the main area just SE of Hurricane Creek, fish the Flats and creek channel, we fish in 27 to 37 feet of water, we fish this area with about 100 other boats. Most of the boats were drift fishing with live bate, drop rig with 2 to 3 hook. I fish with Jigs, rods rig with 2 jigs each BNB Crappie Jigs, bottom jig CLDT-PS #003) 1/8oz White/Orange/White/Midge and about 18 to 24" up with a CLDT-PS #001) 1/8oz Salmon/Blue/Midge we also used Smelly Jelly Crawfish on them. The KISTLER HELIUM LAT help when you are fishing in the deep water and weighting for that slits tick form that crappie in 30 feet of water. Bill and Dearil fish with live bait some of the time, but BNB Jigs put 90% of the crappie in the Boat today. Camera Crew Bill McBroom and Dennis

TIPS: Alley Creek is always good in September, one of the most consent area is the old road bed just under the bridge this area hold fish just about all year. Fish the Shaky Head and Drop-Rig in this area.
Also there are a lot of stumps and logs in the back of Alley Creek, use the Bandit crankbait around the stumps and logs.
