We’re happy to carry Yamaha personal watercraft because of their reliability and high performance. Here’s some of the history behind this brand and their top-selling, agile personal watercraft.
WaveRunner® Development
The Yamaha Motor Company, long a producer of land-based powersports vehicles, dipped their toes into the lucrative waters of the marine industry when they began to manufacture boats during the mid-20th century.
This led them to develop their first personal watercraft in the 1980s, a sit-down, open-stern model that demonstrated superior agility in the water while being easy for even the most novice rider to master. They dubbed this craft the WaveRunner and it hit the market in 1986, swiftly drawing notice from watersports enthusiasts the world over.
During the remainder of the 20th century, further developments on their models made Yamaha a leading PWC manufacturer, and some of their innovations include the 2002 FX® 140 WaveRunner, with the first four-stroke engine available in a PWC. It provided great fuel economy and a stable hull design that led to high sales.
WaveRunner models released after 2008 have a much lighter hull thanks to NanoXcel® technology, which is a composite material that is 25% lighter in weight than previous sheet-molded composite hulls were.
WaveJammer® & WaveBlaster®
Right after their first craft, Yamaha released the WaveJammer in 1987 to great acclaim. As a small-hulled, sit-down PWC for one rider, it provided similar agility to its immediate predecessor. It was produced for four years before being supplanted in 1993 by the WaveBlaster, a two-person PWC that had a potent engine to give riders the experience of being on a motorcycle in the water.
These are only some of the great models produced by Yamaha. Seeking Yamaha PWC for sale?
